Augmented Reality – Experience

In 2019, Toyota launched the Hybrid AR app. This app allowed customers to gain a detailed insight into the newly launched Toyota C-HR. The working of the app overlayed images of the interiors and machine works of the Hybrid drivetrain onto physical vehicles.

Customers were able to interact through the app and discovered more about the car’s key features, like the hybrid’s motor, battery and fuel tank. Customers also had the liberty to go into how the car’s energy was being used and what were the workings of the drivetrain in different drive states. This resulted in very successful sales of Toyota’s newly launched product in the market.

This shows us that for automotive brands, technology is becoming a key part of the acquisition process, allowing customers to gain insight into the product in a new, immersive way, and ideally drawn further down the path to purchase. After watching the video, you might think it to be some kind of virtual technology. That’s a 'no'. There’s another technology at the doorstep, just as captivating and perhaps more practical. Namely - Augmented Reality.

Unlike how virtual reality creates a new simulating environment, augmented reality uses digital tools to offer an interactive experience that is grounded in reality. With users still, in reality, partially at a hospital, automotive sector, or even Mars!, AR gives professionals practical training experience that's not too distant from the real world.

That's why the future of AR looks bright, even though it is sometimes viewed with less excitement than virtual reality. Maybe that's because consumer-based VR applications outnumber those for AR. But, it might not be long before consumers and working professionals join hands in seeing the value of an augmented viewpoint.

By following the lean methodology, practitioners aim to reduce or entirely remove these seven wastes from the production cycle. Fundamental to the methodology is continuous improvement. Rather than engaging in waste reduction as a discrete exercise, lean is adopted as a guiding methodology that yields ever-finer optimizations.

From Pokémon to Machine Development!

Industries with AR

AR has made headlines mostly through cultural appreciation. Who can forget the Pokémon GO craze in 2016? With Pokémon characters appearing over real images of streetscapes on smartphones, players walked city streets as they played the AR-based game. Snapchat filters are now all the rage, as app users benefit from AR trickery to make themselves look younger or become virtual animal.

But, AR isn't all about fun and games. It has also found a foothold as a training device in several professional fields, like, manufacturing, medical, military, and education to name a few. Organizations tend to like AR because it overlays internal information and other digital aspects over a real-world perspective. Trainees are thus grounded in reality, while enjoying the act of learning through augmented modules.

The Augmented Habitat

In today's competitive environment, Augmented Reality plays an important role in increasing business productivity and gives a new shape to organizations. Consumers are not only looking for a product or service but they are looking for a great personalized experience associated with the product or service.

It is the experience that is affecting their buying decision and thus augmented reality is a new tool for marketers to tap the market and position them on top in the competition. It is helping multiple industries and businesses to increase collaboration and develop new features to overcome the latest effective challenges and in the coming future, it will open many more doors of business opportunities.
