These days we all carry Smart Phones with us. When we say a - Smart Phone, it simply means that the phone which has a mind of his own and it just needs a basic instruction from us to operate on its own. With time these phones are getting smarter and at present in some cases they don’t even need an instruction.
Similarly, now with the help of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, such HOMES are also being developed which have the minds of their own.
Internet of Things (IoT) is an ecosystem of connected physical objects that are accessible through the internet. The ‘thing’ in IoT could be a person with a heart monitor or an automobile with built-in-sensors, i.e. objects that have been assigned an IP address and have the ability to collect and transfer data over a network without manual assistance or intervention. The embedded technology in the objects helps them to interact with internal states or the external environment, which in turn affects the decisions taken.
What if we use this IoT ecosystem for our homes? Is that possible? Why not, like above said what if we assign IP addresses… in a simple term; digitalize each of our home appliances from TV to fridge, door, couch, windows, alarms, water heater, security camera - anything & everything. Then we just need an IOT software, once we implement that, it would link all these appliances with each other and give a final control to us on our phone.
So, in an IOT automated home, you wake up with alarm of the clock. As soon as you shut the clock off, the night light goes off and the curtains to your windows open by themselves & allow the bright sunlight in your bedroom. The water heater gets operational on- its-own; the home telephone starts reading your messages. The house alarm system starts giving you an update on the current house and its security conditions and so on…. Now this is a very vague and fantasized example, but it will give you a fair idea about the SMRAT HOMES I have been talking about.
When managing all of your home devices from one place, the convenience factor here is enormous.
There are endless possibilities that you can achieve with IOT home automation system thereby making optimum use of energy and simultaneously enjoying a comfortable lifestyle.
